What is Mamosetse

Mamosetse (loosely translated "mother of the only remaining child" in the Sesotho language) is a magazine of convergent storytelling in fiction and narrative non-fiction poised to be the new voice of influence in Lesotho—where the arts scene remains virtually non-existent—and beyond. Mamosetse will roam among the people. It will be human and accessible, like a friend one can easily turn to for anything, at any time. It won't spread unfounded rumours or speak ill of others. Instead, it will draw a clear line between fact and fiction, speaking to a specific kind of listener—one who wants to stop and pay attention to a unique voice boasting world-class culture writing, journalism, and fiction. Mamosetse won't concern itself with small village gossip—that muddy field is a playground for the few tabloids and sensational newspapers already published in the country. To read Mamosetse is to experience an alternative voice in Lesotho's media landscape, one that asks: "Why?" "What's new here?" "How can we leave our audience with new knowledge once they've closed the pages of the magazine?"
